Cash pickup

Send euros, and the recipient collects local currency at a MoneyGram agent.

Not yet fully live. Cash pickup opens when a payout partner is live, Kenya first. Until then the app does not offer it, and other countries are added as payout agreements are signed.

Destination Kenya, method Cash pickup (MoneyGram).

What you need

  • The recipient's full name, exactly as on their photo ID. MoneyGram will not pay out against a name that does not match.
  • Their mobile number, so they can be told the pickup reference.

What happens

  1. You enter the amount in euros. The quote shows the shillings the recipient will collect, the mid-market rate, the margin (0.5%) and the fee (€0.99). See Fees and exchange rates.
  2. You confirm with your passkey. Your EURe is converted to USDC at the best available venue price and sent, in one signed transaction, into the payout route. Nothing leaves your wallet unless every step of that transaction succeeds.
  3. The payout is funded on MoneyGram's side and a pickup reference is issued. It appears in the app on the transfer's detail screen; share it with the recipient.
  4. The recipient goes to any MoneyGram agent with the reference number and their ID and collects the cash.

Your details as the sender

International cash transfers are money transmission, and the payout partner is required to know who sent the money. When cash pickup opens, Zold will ask for the sender details the partner requires at the moment you send, for that transfer only; nothing is kept as a stored profile.

Speed

Once funded, a pickup is typically ready within minutes. The timeline on the transfer shows each stage: converted, funded, ready for pickup, collected.

What the recipient pays

Nothing. The amount on the quote is the amount they collect.

Rates

The local-currency figure is Zold's estimate of MoneyGram's rate at the moment of the quote. MoneyGram sets the final shilling amount when the payout is funded; the transfer detail shows the confirmed figure.
